Secure Websites with SSL & TLS

TLS (Transport Layer Security) and SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) are encryption standards that are commonly used to encrypt and secure information that is exchanged over the Internet. These protocols allow clients or server applications to communicate across networks (to your church members) in a way designed to prevent eavesdropping and tampering.

KEYPOPPY security certificates provide security with 2048 bit strengths, which means they’re practically impossible to fake. In other words, your SSL certificate proves that you are who you say you are.

Although there is some tricky code behind certificates, using them is fairly straight forward. An SSL certificate has your domain and company name (and sometimes your address and more) encrypted into the certificate along with lots of numbers and letters that signify your unique ID. The certificate also includes some code (more letters and numbers) that link to the certificate issuing authority (the place where the SSL certificate is purchased, such as GoDaddy, Versign, or Trustwave) and it gets installed onto your server where no one can touch it. Every time a member of your church tries to access a secure area of your website, a special port is opened that allows your certificate to shake hands with your certificate issuer and the member accessing the site. If the code on your site matches the code at the issuing authority, then the user can be confident that no one else is listening in. Most browsers have special icons to alert users if a site is not safe.

KEYPOPPY can integrate SSL into any portion of your church website (registration, donations, forms, and so forth). Your website will include a security seal so that your visitors will know that their information is safe.
